The History of the Charter Chihuahua

A long time Charter employee walked down a dusty alley in Mexico in the wee hours of the morning after one too many cervezas.  The silence was broken by a distant yip.  And then another.  And another.  The yips began to grow in frequency and intensity until the alley seemed to be alive.  Ai carumba! It was a ferocious herd of Chihuahuas! He had heard that night about the wild Chihuahuas and how they roamed this little village with no natural predators.  The locals had warned him to carry a stool for safety, but alas, he had discounted the warnings as local lore and had recklessly ventured into the pre-dawn mist. Now they swarmed him.  He leaped for a fire escape ladder but it was just out of reach.  He fell into a lump and fended off the four legged, snarling piranhas as they nipped his ears and bit his nose.  With the ferocity and weight of the herd on him, he felt the sensation of consciousness falling away.  He saw a light at the end of a tunnel and was compelled to follow it.  He awoke at the foot of his bed sweating of tequila.  A small animal scampered out of the room with a yip.  The single light bulb hanging from a wire flickered.

The Charter Chihuahua mascot was chosen in homage to that fateful night in Mexico where our nameless hero found that even the smallest of animals pulling together can do great things. Chihuahuas are fiercely loyal to their owners and, pound for pound, have the largest heart of any dog breed.  It has been observed that larger breeds of dogs may fight over a meal while the Chihuahua will sneak in and take the prize.  Big heart, loyal, and smart — no wonder we at Charter love our Mascot. Yip! Yip! Yip!
