Charter Construction completed a new home for our family in the Fall of 2003. I liken this home project to an investment in a great company's stock. SHKS Architects worked with Charter Construction on the Lakeside Residence, a custom residence on the shore of Lake Washington. The project faced many challenges including a constrained site, limited site access, site ground water issues and demanding finishes. Charter responded to each of these challenges with creativity and forethought, turning challenges into opportunities to the benefit of the project. Throughout the project Charter provided exemplary project management and project supervision services, effectively managing their own employees and numerous specialty sub-contractors to achieve excellent results in key project areas. Charter self-performed work in a number of key crafts including exterior siding and interior finish carpentry. Charter’s work in these areas was outstanding. When presenting cost estimates for project modifications, Charter provided multiple options for client consideration allowing the client to control when additional costs were incurred. I want to personally thank the entire team at Charter for an amazing, professional job at Juanita Shores. I have been an absentee owner, for the past 2 months (returning twice), and I have to compliment everybody for such professionalism, quality control and “liveability” during this period. I have a part time renter who has nothing but favorable comments. I returned 3 weeks ago for 4 days and was so impressed with the results and the look of the new “Juanita Shores”. Yes, it is dusty and not perfect, but I can see through that and when the landscaping is restored the building is going to be a pleasure to return to.

I had the opportunity of working with Charter Construction on the University of Washington Hutchinson Hall Drama Design Studio tenant improvement project from June though December 2010. Throughout the construction phase, I found Charter to be responsive to questions and/or concerns both in the field and administratively. During my tenure as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Promenade at Bethany Village condominiums in Portland, OR, we engaged Charter Construction to execute water intrusion and general construction remediation work on our three building, 102 unit community.
From the moment we made the decision (having interviewed two other firms) through contract negotiations, their initial presentation to the unit owners, the launch of work and the handling of the inevitable problems, they have been professional and a pleasure to work with.

The common response to the news that a friend or loved one is building a new home or remodeling an old one is a fervent offering of goodluck. Our experience working with Charter Construction over the course of a year to build our new home on Capitol Hill in Seattle deviated from the anticipated norm. From our first meeting with Peter Saladino through our last interactions with our Project Managers (Ed Coke & John Ellertson, we love you!), as they completed the lingering items on our project’s punch list and tallied the last change order costs, we have enjoyed and appreciated the level of professionalism, follow through, and stellar execution that Charter demonstrated every step of the way.

My husband and I met with our renters last night who had moved in on the day reconstruction started on our house. This could have been a very negative experience for them, but they said they have hardly noticed the work going on.
Also, they said that the Charter staff who have come into the home have always been courteous, professional, and does a great job of first asking that the renters were aware they would be coming into their home. Our renters recently had the attic vents tight lined, and again they said the experience was positive and they hardly noticed the crew working. They thought the crew was fast and efficient and was in and out of the home super quick which they appreciated.
Our renters extended their lease another 6 months and they are excited to see the community restored this Summer to use the Clubhouse and have their house repainted.

We are writing to thank you for the excellent service we recieved from Charter Construciton when our home flooded in January. When we realized water was seeping into the floor and up the walls of our finished basement, we were scared - about the damage, about the expense, about how we would fix a problem we didn't understand. At every step of the process, your team was professional, kind, carefgul, thorough, efficient and dependable. They showed up exactly when they said they would; they called us regularly to check on progress; they treated our home as carefully as they would treat their own homes; and they worked to minimize the damage, to save us as much money as possible, and to protect our furnishings so we wouldn't have to replace any of them. They put everything back together so our basement now looks like nother ever happened. It's as if there was never a flood. No wonder your business cards say "HEROIC."
