Featuring in-floor heating, stone countertops and ancient Chinese stone troughs integrated into its storm water management system, this guesthouse packs considerable punch in 2,600 SF.
Located on the west slope of Queen Anne Hill, the 814 Residence was built just five feet from the existing home. During demolition, crews removed a three-story chimney, requiring crews to create an eco-block barrier to protect the existing structure.
The storm water management system is designed to funnel rainwater to the southwest corner of the residence using two Chinese stone troughs as architectural elements. The water runs into an upper trough which drains into a concrete gutter on the top of a retaining wall. From the gutter, the water is diverted into a second trough, which directs the water into the storm water collection system.
Interior features include exposed reclaimed timbers, ash flooring, stone countertops and wood windows and doors.
