Charter Construction will demolish the existing home and build a new, Capitol Hill Residence, incorporating many energy efficient features. Nearly half of the owners’ daily energy needs will be met by use of photovoltaic panels (solar power), and the earth’s ground temperature will be utilized to help heat the home using geo-wells.
The “hot room”, similar to a sauna, incorporates radiant heat cables in the walls and ceiling and a heated, sand floor.
The lot is located at the end of a narrow street with no turn around access and in an environmentally critical area due to a steep slope on one end of the property. Vehicles will have only one option that is to back down the street. Coupled with a very limited staging area for materials, careful planning of all activities and material deliveries will be required.
