CONESTOGA MIDDLE SCHOOL

Owner: Beaverton School District
Architect: Forensic Building Consultants
Completion:
November 2007

Charter Construction and Forensic Building Consultants worked closely together to develop and execute a plan to repair the water intrusion damages to Conestoga Middle School, located in the Beaverton School District near Portland, Oregon.

Poor construction carried out by the original contractor led to failure of the exterior stucco system as well as faulty window installation. A second contractor attempted to remediate the water intrusion repairs, which also failed. The stucco system was completely removed and replaced by Charter. When the window repairs began, dry rot issues near the window framing were found and repaired. The new stucco installation included a new concealed barrier system, window waterproofing and fully soldered window head and pan flashings.

Charter crews had a tight three-month schedule to complete the remediation job. The school was fully occupied during the construction process. The school received zero closures and no complaints as a result of Charters repairs.
