SALTWATER BLUFF

Located on a steep, environmentally sensitive slope overlooking Puget Sound, the Saltwater Bluff residence required considerable shoring before construction could begin. Crews placed H piles and timber lagging during excavation to stabilize the hillside during the excavation process.

Construction methods and products were equally complex. The lower level walls are architecturally exposed concrete and the floor framing is structural steel pan deck with concrete fill. Upper level walls employed engineered timber framing to accommodate the numerous large window openings.
