Completion: October 2003
Charter’s scheduling and
coordination skills were put to the test during construction
of this 9,500 SF lakefront home and garage.
The site is located on a steep slope and access was limited to a
narrow driveway, requiring careful planning and monitoring of equipment
and material delivery.
The home features a soaring “butterfly” roof supported
by Douglas fir timber framing. The large timbers are connected with
blind fasteners, resulting in seamless woodworking with no visible
nails or bolts. The giant, one-of-a-kind roof timbers required extreme
care during construction, requiring Charter to take extra steps to
protect the material from the weather.
