Japanese Presbyterian Church
Exterior repairs to the Japanese Presbyterian Church were a month away from starting when the Rainier Valley house of worship was the victim of arson. Charter was on the scene just hours later, protecting the charred and exposed structure. In an attempt to meet a now expedited schedule, Charter crews worked hand in hand with the insurance company to determine the amount of damage and means of repair.
Partnering with the design team, Charter worked through added design details. The structure's original intricate cedar shingle pattern was preserved and deteriorated siding was replaced. New roof curb flashing was added to prevent further weather damage to the building envelope. Replacement cedar railings and trim work were fabricated on-site to match the church's original design.
Despite the added challenges, Charter brought the project to completion on schedule.
