Water damage that pervaded the decks of this three-building, 102-unit condominium complex in Northwest Portland required the removal of adjacent siding, deck doors, concrete topping slabs and damaged framing. Charter crews repaired the damaged framing and installed a new deck waterproofing system that included new concrete topping slabs. The rain screen system incorporated at the deck fascia and columns allows future water to drain freely out and away from the decks.

Charter worked closely with both the homeowners’ association and the architect to balance the need for improving the waterproofing performance of these buildings while maintaining the existing aesthetics of the deck towers. Extensive mockups and frequent site meetings ensured the goal was met successfully.

From the moment we made the decision (having interviewed two other firms) through contract negotiations, their initial presentation to the unit owners, the launch of work and the handling of the inevitable problems, Charter has been professional and a pleasure to work with.
