Sensitive to the owner’s limited budget, Charter Construction and the design team approached University Christian Church’s renovation and expansion project with a unique combination of value engineering options and innovative construction methods. The owner was able to phase the project, allowing them to achieve their goals and get the most value for their capital fundraising dollars.
A unique shoring system was devised for construction of the elevator’s concrete pit, facilitating excavation. A rooftop elevator vestibule was constructed and sided with copper shingles. The electrical upgrade required a new service entrance, transformers and subpanels, replacing the existing fuse system and providing for future expansion.
