This building’s name isn’t the only thing unusual about it. Whaac All All – a Salish Indian dialect meaning “build on stilts” – is a tall, four-story structure that uses a variety of construction methods and unique, highly detailed interior finishes.

The building was intended for multiple uses: floor one is a luxury apartment, floor two a commercial office space, floor three is the owner’s art gallery and floor four a luxury condominium. Charter used different construction methods and materials for each floor, beginning with heavy concrete, transitioning to structural steel, and then switching to wood frame.

The building’s narrow site made construction difficult. The 50-degree slope and unstable soils required a combination of vertical and battered auger cast pilings with large grade beams and pile caps.

Charter was with us before the ground was broken, through to the dedication of our award winning, mixed use building and beyond whenever there were any issues to be resolved. For their skill, perseverance, reliability and warmth of character, they are truly unmatched.
