of Qualifications
Craig Johnson’s experience in the construction field goes back to
his teenage years, where he was introduced to the industry as a contractor’s
helper. He worked his way up through the ranks of carpentry, gaining valuable
construction experience on a number of residential and commercial projects.
Past projects include involvement in construction of a Buddhist temple, restaurants,
custom and spec homes, and numerous construction defects repair jobs. Johnson’s
experienced involvement in all phases of a project – planning, design,
budgeting, estimating, subcontractor procurement – has given him an edge
when dealing with engineers, architects, owners, subcontractors and inspectors.
Johnson prides himself on doing a job right, and he accomplishes this with
strong communication skills and a sense of humor.

Selected Projects
- Allchin Phase II & III – innovative remodel of an Arthur Loveless designed mansion. Alterations included removal of an elevator to accommodate layout changes on three floors, an extensive electrical retrofit and elaborate cabinet and tile packages. Challenges included installation of structural steel upgrades and matching floors and trim to replicate the original look
- Driver Residence – this fast-tracked project was a complete remodel of an existing 4,400 SF home that went from concept to substantial completion in less than 9 months. The newly updated interiors on the main floor included wall-to-wall vertical grain fir cabinets, new hardwood flooring, slate tile work, and massive sliding doors looking out to Lake Washington. The lower level included a twenty-foot accordion style door, tile floors, and a new fireplace veneer to match the upstairs stone
- Fortuna Lodge – renovation and seismic upgrade to historic
community building on Mercer Island; included new structural steel moment
frames, structural concrete, replacement of rotten heavy timber framing and
new electrical/mechanical systems
- J.C. Penney – tenant improvement job
involving division of vacant space into two new retail areas; converting
basement into future office space
