Summary of Qualifications
With 16 years of experience as both a commercial property owner and field superintendent, Doug Dundas brings a unique perspective to the Charter team. He is able to view the “big picture” from the owner’s standpoint, while retaining an eye for detail on even the most complex and technical projects.
Doug excels in restoration contracting and tenant improvement work. As a graduate of Seattle Pacific University, he combines his business management degree with his hands-on construction experience to facilitate vital communication between owners, architects, subcontractors and field personnel.
Selected Projects
- Equinox Apartments - Oversaw Charter labor crews and subcontractors involved in excavation, tower crane erection, lagging, waterproofing, concrete foundation and framing for the new construction of a 204 unit mixed use building.
- Fairway Lane Townhomes - Full strip and reclad of 15 building (60+ units) that had been confirmed to have structural attachment and waterproofing insufficiencies.
- Courtyard Condominiums - In addition to a full reclad and moisture damage repair of the condo building’s brick/stucco exterior, about 1000 sq feet of elevated concrete deck was added to the garage lid to fill in an old water feature and unused promenade staircase.
- Pegasus Condominiums - 9 year old mixed use building in Seattle’s north end that had been investigated for improper structural attachment installation. Repairs included removal of stucco and vinyl siding, windows, deck membranes and decayed framing members along with installation of new framing, windows and new metal and hardi-plank siding.
- Sammamish Pointe – Year-long restoration of 132-unit occupied condominium complex; identified and corrected critical water piping installation problem that had resulting in failure and subsequent water damage; installed drain trench with perforated pipe to eliminate water accumulation at back wall of some units, then waterproofed slab; stripped all exterior vinyl siding, repaired water damage and installed waterproofing and new siding.
- Pacific Coast Feather Co. – Worked around active office space to erect and install seven, three-story steel frames on the exterior and one on the interior of this Seattle building; replaced 2,000 SF of clay tile separation wall with solid grouted CMU wall.
- Carroll Apartments - Led detailed, year-long restoration of 100-year-old Carroll Apartments on Seattle’s Capitol Hill following 2001 Nisqually earthquake; complete overhaul to severely damaged plumbing and electrical systems, seismic upgrade and strip and tuck point of entire brick exterior; painstaking attention to detail to preserve elegance and charm of original historic building
- Zeta Psi Fraternity - Fire had damaged portions of the pool house. Pool was filled in with pea gravel and the large room turned into an entertainment room. Two floors of dorm rooms were upgraded with new doors, paint and casework.
- The Herbfarm Restaurant – Worked closely with owners of exclusive dining establishment to perform complete interior build-out, including exhibition kitchen, 130-seat main dining room, 14-seat private dining room, 12,000-bottle wine cellar and 800 SF of office space.
- Loudeye Technologies – 13-month phased expansion into 55,000 SF of commercial tenant space in downtown Seattle; included construction and linkage of three data storage facilities around the city, along with installation of high-capacity HVAC and electrical systems.

When fire destroyed the renowned Herbfarm Restaurant – rated one of the top 50 restaurants in the world – Charter was called upon to recreate the old world charm of the original restaurant in the newly constructed Willows Lodge.

Repairs to the historic, 33-unit Carroll Apartment complex following the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake.

A fire at the Zeta Psi fraternity at the University of Washington left more than singed timbers and smoke damage.
