Summary of Qualifications
As a project manager for residential team, John Ellerston has nine years of field experience and a dual degree in construction management and architecture from the University of Washington. His familiarity with the role of the designer brings a fresh perspective to the project team.
John grew up in around a family owned construction company, allowing him to experience many aspects of the construction process early on. His extensive experience building and remodeling high-end homes has honed an eye for detail and a strong work ethic.
Professional Accomplishments
- Participated in ASC Region VII Student Competition placing, placing first in the 2004 Design-Build competition

Selected Projects
- Capitol Hill Residence - Managed the new construction of a high end residence in Capitol Hill. The home utilizes many energy efficient features such as photovoltaic panels and geo-wells.
- Veryioglou Residence – Managed this residential project consisting of new exterior stucco siding, new exterior deck, and new entry, demolition and new framing and layout of master bathroom.
- Turtle Cove Residence – Project manager for the new construction of an 11,000 sq. ft. single family residence. This new home utilized the largest photovoltaic electric system for a home in the City of Seattle, at 16.2 KW.
- Ratzlaff Residence – Managed the remodel of a 7,600 sq. ft. historic home. Crews upgraded the mechanical, electrical and plumbing, retrofitting the structure to current codes.
- Sheppard Lake House - 4,200 SF contemporary home on the western shores of Lake Washington; wood and structural steel design incorporates three floors of the highest-level finishes and wrap around decking to absorb panoramic views; the foundation was poured upon sixty-seven pipe piles to combat any potential future movement
- Taucher Residence - This small job included replacing old wood windows with new aluminum clad windows that kept the style and integrity of the home, integrating air conditioning into an existing media room, repairing a wood deck to receive new tile. In addition to the house upgrades, Charter constructed a 10’x10’ hot tub pad on a forty percent slope that sits on seven pin piles. Access to the new hot tub location is easier now that a spiral staircase connects the main floor deck and lower terrace
- Driver Residence - This fast tracked project was a complete remodel of an existing 4,400 SF home and went from concept to substantial complete in less than 9 months. The newly updated interiors on the main floor include wall-to-wall vertical grain fir cabinets, new hardwood flooring, slate tile work, and massive sliding doors looking out to Lake Washington. The lower level includes a twenty-foot accordion style door, tile floors, and a new fireplace veneer to match the upstairs

Charter Construction demolished the existing home and built a new, Capitol Hill Residence, incorporating many energy efficient features.

The home's design allows for natural convection, keeping the home cool during summer months and uses a high efficiency hydronic boiler during the winter.
