Celebrating Growth and Achievement at Charter Construction

June 20, 2024

Building Careers and a Cutting-Edge Workforce

At Charter Construction, we believe that the backbone of our success is our people. It’s not just about the projects we complete, but the individuals who drive our progress and innovation every day. This core value is why we are committed to fostering a culture where every team member is supported in their professional growth and development.

The Importance of Continuous Learning

The construction industry is much more fast-paced than one might imagine. Considering the large amount of planning, scheduling, and strategizing coupled with the constant stream of new products and methods being introduced, staying at the forefront means continuously updating our skills and anticipating the needs of the future. That's why we focus on continuous learning and development—not just to stay ahead, but also to foster a workforce that can collaborate, sharing knowledge and skill. At Charter Construction, we prioritize our employees’ professional growth and development through comprehensive training programs, including our partnership with the Construction Industry Training Council (CITC).

Highlighting Our CITC Apprenticeship Program

For our Seattle office, the CITC apprenticeship program is a cornerstone of our field training efforts. It provides our apprentices classroom training applicable to the hands-on experience they acquire in the field working alongside our seasoned tradespeople. Beyond an investment in the skills of our workforce, it’s a foundational element of our company culture that values professional growth, initiative, and a proactive mindset.

Graduates of the CITC Carpentry Apprenticeship must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and another 640 hours of related classroom instruction. This is completed over the span of a 4-year commitment and results in a highly experienced, nationally recognized, journey-level carpenter.

Celebrating Success: CITC Graduates

This June marks a significant milestone as we celebrate the graduation of three Charter apprentices from the CITC program: Cassi Bongs, Chris Ramirez, and Brandon Lopez. These individuals have demonstrated remarkable dedication. Their journey through the apprenticeship program has not only equipped them with invaluable skills but has also prepared them to tackle larger responsibilities and contribute more significantly to our projects and enrichment of their coworkers. We are proud to congratulate these graduates on their achievements, which elevate both their personal career paths and our company’s capabilities.  Graduates, you embody the Charter Construction commitment to continuous improvement.

Spotlight on Success: Ricardo Lopez
A great example of career progression obtained through career training and development is Ricardo Lopez, a 2023 CITC graduate who is advancing to a superintendent role within our Seattle Disaster Solutions team. Ricardo’s journey proves how the time investment in training can lead to career advancements and greater opportunities at Charter Construction.

Inspiration and Encouragement

Our graduates are a source of inspiration across our company. They demonstrate what can be achieved through dedication in a company culture that supports all team members in achieving their highest potential. As a CITC Carpenter Apprentice at Charter Construction, you receive paid, hands-on training, and we cover all tuition and fees for the CITC program itself, reinforcing our commitment to removing educational barriers and supporting our people’s professional growth.
