Senior Living, From our Family to Yours

March 14, 2019
"The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes." Fitting words from architect, designer, writer, and educator Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and their environment. We at Charter Construction apply a similar philosophy to our work with senior living communities; we take pride in treating residents with humanity so they can live in harmony.

construction company mentioning harmony and humanity may seem strange. For us, it’s just another day at the office. We enjoy the jobs that matter. The jobs that make people's lives better. The jobs that make Charter better. It’s this combination that first attracted Charter to senior living projects.

Our work on commercial construction, renovation and emergency services for multi-family buildings is well known throughout the NW. These projects were instrumental in paving a path for success when clients came to us about senior living. Not “just anybody” can try their hand at these projects. It takes more than an understanding of building science and proper construction methods to be successful.

What does it take? We’re glad you asked. Our priorities are safety, quality, continued comfort of residents and the success of our clients. These facilities have multiple levels of care: independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care. Understanding those differences is paramount. Additional building codes and requirements from states, counties, and cities are also required for senior living facilities. This takes specialized architectural and construction knowledge; knowledge that Charter continues to refine and weave into our on-the-job processes.

This expertise in working in occupied spaces sets Charter apart from other contractors. Not only do we have the skills, but we love doing it because it makes us more than just a contractor, it makes us part of the communities we serve. Senior living requires even more attention to these issues. We go to great lengths to maximize safety and minimize noise, dust, and our entire footprint throughout the project, while making sure that we are supporting building owners and managers in serving the seniors whose homes we are impacting.

We’re a company with a family sensibility. Even if it’s not our family members who live in these facilities, we conduct our work like it is. Taking care of others’ families pushes us to perform beyond expectations. Moreover, we’re proud of this work. No matter the facility, attention and care are of the utmost importance. Give us a call if you have any questions. We’re happy to assist with your buildings in any way we can. whether it is renovation, new construction, small repairs or 24/7 emergency response for water, fire, or storm damage.
